Whether you’re planning ahead or just looking for something to do on a sunny afternoon or warm evening, consider this your guide to making the most of the season. From food trucks and festivals to concerts and movies under the stars, these events highlight the best of what summer has to offer close to home.

Fairs, Festivals and Fundraisers

August Fun Fest

This festival features a variety of food, entertainment, and children’s activities that make it an exciting event for the whole family.

Great Pyrenees Charity Golf Tournament

When: August 31

Where: Edgewood Country Club, 100 Churchill Road, Churchill

This golf tournament, sponsored by the Great Pyrenees Club of Western PA, raises funds to help the club rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Great Pyrenees and other large dogs that are owner surrendered or in local shelters.

International Village

When: August 18–20

McKeesport’s regional-favorite heritage festival celebrates sights, sounds and tastes from around the world. Food booths and on-stage performances represent various countries.

Jeremy Dentel Memorial Golf Tournament

When: August 1

Where: 3 Lakes Golf Course, 6700 Saltsburg Road, Penn Hills

This event is held in honor of Jeremy, who died tragically in 2022. He was very involved with Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, which established the Jeremy Dentel Emergency Medical Fund in his honor. The fund helps underwrite the cost of care for animals recovering from abuse, neglect or injuries suffered from a traumatic event.

Monroeville Foundation Jazz Festival

When: September 5

This festival showcases and celebrates Pittsburgh’s jazz legends and up-and-coming artists alongside national talent. The free concert is a tradition that promotes awareness and appreciation for all forms of jazz.

PA Arts & Crafts Labor Day Festival

When: September 4–7

Where: Westmoreland Fairgrounds, 123 Blue Ribbon Lane, Greensburg

More than 200 indoor and outdoor exhibits will provide lots of shopping options at this festival. There will also be many delicious foods, activities for kids, and live music.

Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival

When: August 22 through September 27 (weekends and Labor Day only)

This annual event has a lot to offer, with music, magic and merriment for all ages! Entertainment will come from all corners of the realm, the food will reflect a feast fit for a king, and the marketplace will feature more than 100 shops with unique handmade wares.

Renzie Rib Fest

The Renzie Rib Fest is known for attracting many of the region’s top barbeque vendors. The Lions Bandshell, home to the summer concert series, will host daily free concerts as well.

Westmoreland Fair

When: August 21–29

The Westmoreland Fair has everything! Enjoy events like demolition derbies and bottle rocket competitions along with farm animals to admire and plenty of fair food, of course!

Live Performances

Acoustics at the Amphitheater

When: August 13 and September 10

Enjoy acoustic music, food and beverages at this free outdoor community event. Take a chair or blanket to sit back and relax.

‘Amp Up Your Summer’ Concert Series

These free outdoor concerts are family-friendly. Food trucks and concessions will be available at each show or plan your own picnic. Leashed pets are welcome.

Monroeville Summer Concert Series

Peace Frog: The Doors Tribute

Summer Concert Series at Cedar Creek and Twin Lakes

Tuesdays at Townsend

Family Fun

Churchill Community Day

Churchill Community Day is a great opportunity to connect with family, friends and neighbors. Lots of kid-friendly fun will make it a great day for all.

Edgewood Community Day

This Community Day will offer live music, food, an artists market, family-friendly activities, and fireworks!

Sleepover in the Park

When: September 12

Participants (typically age 10 and under along with their parents) pitch tents and sleep under the stars at this fun family event.

White Oak Borough Community Day

When: August 1

Summer Running (and Walking)

Road to Trail 5K Run and Walk

When: August 14

Where: White Oak Park Red Wood Pavilion, McClintock Road, White Oak

The annual Road to Trail Run and Walk starts and ends on road with the middle 2 miles going through wooded trails and grass fields. Trophies are given to overall winners, and medals go to the top three in each age group.

Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter Poker Run

When: September 7

Where: 111 Collinsburg Road, West Newton

Lace up your sneakers or hop on your bike for a 2-mile walk, 12-mile ride, or 20-mile ride on the scenic Great Allegheny Passage trail. Participants can collect a full poker hand at five stops along the way.

Festivals and Fun in the Burgh

Bloomfield Little Italy Days

Bring your appetite to one of the region’s largest heritage festivals. Expect lots of music and food, games, and activities for the kids among Bloomfield’s unique shops and fine restaurants. This four-day festival will have three packed stages with more than 30 acts.

Pedal PGH

This casual and fun charity ride invites thousands of bikers of all ages, abilities and fitness levels to explore the Steel City. Proceeds benefit BikePGH, a nonprofit organization that works to make the city safe and accessible for bikers and walkers.

Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival

This festival spotlights world-renowned musicians and local jazz pros as well as new artists to watch. Be ready to party, dance, sing and make some musical memories! The annual event is presented by the August Wilson African American Cultural Center.

Pittsburgh Taco Festival

Rock, Reggae & Relief

Summer Flower Show: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
