This summer, two young athletes from Plum Borough will step onto the rink and the international stage, proudly wearing the red, white, and blue of Team USA. Brayden Caliguiri, 16, and Tyler Brenner, 17, have each earned spots on the United States national team for the 2026 International Street and Ball Hockey Federation World Championships, set to take place in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia from July 1–5, 2026. Brayden will compete in the ISBHF U16 Men’s World Championships, while Tyler will participate in the ISBHF U18 Men’s World Championships—a remarkable dual achievement for a single community.
Both young men have spoken about feeling the weight of the moment and embracing it. Representing the U.S. at a world championship is not something most athletes ever get to experience, and Brayden and Tyler understand what a rare privilege it is. That sense of pride is matched by a genuine sense of responsibility to compete hard, carry themselves with character, and make Plum Borough proud in every shift they take on the floor in Slovakia. They are 2 of 16 players from Western Pennsylvania who qualified for the team, reflecting the rich tradition of hockey in our region.
Sending two athletes to an international world championship is no small undertaking, and both families are working to make the trip to Slovakia a reality. The Plum Borough community is encouraged to get behind these two young men with their support. If you would like to contribute to their trip, you can do so here:
