YogaSix opens in Wexford with a heartfelt mission.

Wexford is about to welcome a new center for wellness. Krissy and Jarrid Danburg are bringing their passion for yoga and community to the area with the opening of their second YogaSix studio in the Pittsburgh region. For those who know their story, this is more than just a business venture; it’s a testament to resilience, strength, and unwavering dedication to helping others.
The Danburgs’ journey is one of profound personal experience. They faced an incredibly challenging time when their 6-month-old daughter experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI). This moment tested their family, but they responded with extraordinary courage and determination. Their strength has been a consistent inspiration, and their commitment to community is truly remarkable.
Their journey with YogaSix began with a desire to create a community-focused wellness space in Pittsburgh, where they returned to be closer to family. “We wanted to bring something unique to Pittsburgh, something that fostered wellness and health,” Krissy shared. They discovered YogaSix, a national brand with a supportive business model, and it resonated deeply with their shared love for yoga.
However, the path wasn’t without challenges. They signed a lease in Mt. Lebanon for their first studio on February 14, 2020, only to face the global pandemic a month later. “It was incredibly stressful,” Jarrid recalled. “But in hindsight, the timing was a blessing.” During the lockdown, Krissy pursued her teacher training, deepening her understanding of yoga, while they both explored ways to give back to their community.
It was during this time that they discovered LoveYourBrain, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by TBI. This discovery was deeply personal, as their daughter’s experience with TBI had profoundly impacted their lives. “We found a magazine at the hospital called Brain Health, and it featured LoveYourBrain,” Krissy explained. “It felt like a sign.”
Their partnership with LoveYourBrain began with a commitment to giving back. They host “Flow for a Cause” classes, where all proceeds go directly to the organization. Adam Pearce, co-founder and executive director of LoveYourBrain, praises the Danburgs’ dedication, stating, “Krissy and Jarrid Danburg embody so much of LoveYourBrain’s values and fundamental beliefs.
“As yoga practitioners, they’re not just creating a studio—they’re empowering their community with movement, awareness, and holistic tools to navigate the ever-changing waves of life. As caregivers, they bring a deeply personal connection to brain injury and understand the support families need to truly thrive. As leaders, they’ve invested in both their team and their community, and as fundraisers, they’ve made a tremendous impact on the brain injury community—locally, nationally, and globally.”
Over the past four years, the Danburgs have raised over $27,000, with $10,000 just this past March. Their dedication has inspired YogaSix nationally to partner with LoveYourBrain.
YogaSix Wexford will offer a range of heated classes, from restorative to power yoga, catering to all levels. “Our goal is to create a welcoming space where everyone feels empowered,” Jarrid said. The studio will also feature a smaller space for personal training, private classes, and potentially LoveYourBrain series classes.
Their commitment to community extends beyond yoga. They’ve collaborated with local hospitals, organized mindful hikes, and participated in charitable initiatives like the Mister Rogers sweater drive. “We want to be more than just a yoga studio,” Krissy explained. “We want to be a hub for community engagement.”
As they prepare to open their second studio, Krissy and Jarrid are excited to welcome a new community into their YogaSix family. “We love seeing people transform their lives through yoga,” Jarrid said. “It’s about building connections and creating a third space for people.”
A dedication to their team is also a cornerstone of their mission. They pride themselves on developing staff and providing opportunities for growth. “We’ve seen our team members grow both personally and professionally, and that’s incredibly rewarding,” Krissy shared.
Their goals for growth extend beyond the current locations. They dream of expanding the LoveYourBrain programming to reach children, and continuing to build a network of support for those affected by TBI.
Krissy and Jarrid’s story is a testament to the power of resilience, community, and the healing power of yoga. The Wexford community is fortunate to have them, and their inspiring journey is one to be celebrated.
