Curtain Call for the Crew

Behind the spotlight success of “Mamma Mia,” Keystone Oaks technicians earn Gene Kelly Award recognition.

In April, the high school presented “Mamma Mia!”—the fun musical set in Greece. Audiences were delighted with the production, which included a talented cast. But behind the scenes, students worked hard at creating the sets as well as the perfect lighting and sound to make the show a success. 

The stage crew was rewarded for their efforts with a nomination for the Gene Kelly Award for Outstanding Crew/Technical Execution. 

The prestigious Gene Kelly Awards were established in 1991 by the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, and each year the program includes about 35 participating area schools. 

No doubt the amazing sets contributed to the nomination as well as the seamless execution by the stage crew in transitioning from scene to scene. 

Congratulations to the entire crew for an outstanding production, and special congrats to Claire Auses, a four-year member of the theater program, as the stage manager for “Mamma Mia!”
