The community calendar is filling up fast. Whether you’re planning ahead or just looking for something to do on a sunny afternoon or warm evening, consider this your guide to making the most of the season. From food trucks and festivals to concerts and movies under the stars, these events highlight the best of what summer has to offer close to home.

Bites and Pints Food & Drink Festival

Bridgeville 125th Year Celebration

This year is the 250th birthday of the USA and 125th birthday of Bridgeville! The Bridgeville Community Association has planned more than a week of activities to celebrate including the BB Vibe 5K Run/Walk, a roaring ’20s dinner dance, an ecumenical service, a carnival, a comedy show, a parade, and a coed softball tournament. Brookline’s Breezefest

California Riverfest

Canonsburg Fourth of July Parade & Celebration

Canonsburg hosts one of the largest Independence Day celebrations in the state with a patriotic parade, park events, and a spectacular fireworks display plus lots of other fun activities.
Corks & Kegs

Corks & Kegs has become one of the largest craft beer events in the region. It offers tons of activities, food trucks, live music, a car cruise and plenty of beers, ciders, wines and spirits.
Fall Fantasy Parades

Don’t miss one of Kennywood’s grandest traditions. This series boasts more than 130 marching bands from local high schools and universities, along with beautifully decorated floats.
McSummer Fest

Peters Township Summer Concert Series

Rock the Quarry XXV

The 25th annual Rock the Quarry will be a two-day event full of music, games, science demonstrations, raffles, campfires and the Grand Rubber Ducky Race. There will also be food and drink vendors, crafts, a Scouts skill games area, and rock climbing demonstrations.
St. John’s Cathedral Concert

Brentwood Firecracker 5K Race

This is one of the largest, longest-running and most popular 5Ks in the area. It attracts elite and amateur athletes, with miles of cheering spectators.
Whiskey Rebellion 5K Run/Walk

The 42nd annual Whiskey Rebellion 5K Race continues a Canonsburg tradition. The race takes place before the big Independence Day parade. All proceeds benefit the Canon-McMillan cross country team.

Brentwood’s Taking it to the Streets

The Bug Man

The Bug Man is visiting the library! Learn about bugs and insects throughout Earth’s history, along with their critical importance and ecological connections. Participants will even get a chance to hold some live bugs.
Campfire Jam Night

Corn Hole for the Cure 2026

View the moon, stars, planets and deep space objects! These public star parties are hosted by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh. They start at dusk with safe solar viewing beginning approximately two hours before sunset. Observing will take place as long as there is a partly clear sky.
