Gateway High School Presents ‘Chicago: Teen Edition’

Gateway High School students popped, sixed, squished and more as they wowed audiences with their presentation of “Chicago: Teen Edition” April 10-14.

This version is an adaptation of the award-winning musical “Chicago” by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse. It was designed specifically for teen performers, retaining the essence of the original while making it content-appropriate and flexible for high school students, according to licensing company Concord Theatricals.

The show was directed by Diane Milowicki and produced by Mary Chase. Katie Kelly was the choreographer, Debbie Cross was the costumer, and Frances Lasday and Mia Walker handled set construction and painting, respectively.

Four seniors who have been part of the spring musicals throughout their high school years were featured: Jayla Chase, who played Velma; Lindsey Remai as a reporter and a dancer; Ethan Gmys as the emcee; and Troy Bolette, lighting designer and stage technical manager.
