Celebrating Heritage

McKeesport hosts 65th annual International Village

The 65th annual International Village brought three days of traditional food, fun, and entertainment to Renziehausen Park. Founded in 1960, this signature heritage festival features sights, sounds, and tastes from around the world.

“We are very proud that International Village continues to be the most successful weekday festival in Allegheny County,” McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko said. “Folks gather not only to share ethnic foods that bring back memories and watch exciting performances that feature traditional dances and clothing, but also to catch up with friends and neighbors they may not have seen for some time.”

This year, guests gathered on August 12, 13, and 14 for their favorite treats – apple dumplings from McKeesport Area Shared Ministry’s Swedish booth, honey balls from the Greek booth, crepes from the Rankin Junior Tamburitzans’ Croatian booth, and more! Customers were especially excited to see roasted lamb make its return to the Village – this time at the Serbian booth.

The main stage was booked with festival favorites including the DnB Magnets, Lebanese belly-dancer Sara DeRoy, Grecian Odyssey Dancers, Pravi Rojacki, ABC Dancers by JoAnn, Rankin Jr. Tamburitzans, and the Junior Tamburitzans of Duquesne, Kevin Solecki, Pittsburgh Slovakians, FAAP Philippines Dancers, Lajkoniki Polish Dancers, and Otets Paissii Dancers.
