Uniquely Yours Tea Room—A Sweet Escape to a Gentler Time

Step inside one of the best-kept secrets in the South Hills.

A vibrant photograph capturing a green Victorian-style house with yellow-creamed trim. The two-story house has intricate gingerbread details under the eaves and is surrounded by lush green trees. In the foreground, a dark classic vintage sedan is parked on the grass, surrounded by a border of pink and yellow tulips. The lighting is sunny and cheerful.

This tea room is a wonderland of exquisite pieces that were carefully curated for several years, to reflect the European roots of the tea tradition. Chanel, the area resident who is the creator of this enchanted little corner of the world, has a natural talent for interior design. And her father was a chef in New York who often cooked for the famous Rat Pack of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. among others.

Chanel learned how to make wonderful main dishes along with delicious pastries from her father. As a result, her tea room menu features unique flavors based on seasonal offerings.

The setting combined with a delectable menu create an exceptional experience in the gracious living of another era.

“I’ve actually had older ladies cry, they were so moved by the experience of being here,” says Chanel. The calm and elegant atmosphere likely reminds them of an experience from their past when such places were more common.

Uniquely Yours frequently has four generations of a family who come together for tea. All ages find the visit entertaining and perhaps a bit of a reset from our modern age, which seems to be dominated by electronic screen devices.

Gentlemen also feel at ease when having tea with their spouses. The menu appeals to both men and women, and no one will leave hungry.

Though some people enjoy dressing up in period attire and picture hats, many are casually dressed, and settings can be provided for as few as two guests. Sundays are reserved for special events—parties of 25 to 50 people.

Although it’s recommended to make reservations two weeks in advance, you can sometimes benefit from a last-minute reschedule to snag a spot.

“Every setting takes tremendous attention to detail,” explains Chanel. “It takes a lot of work to make sure that the experience is storybook-elegant for each visitor. But I love what I do! It’s truly a passion.”
