Greensburg’s Happy Days Flower Farm offers beautiful blooms and a positive mindset for the season.

More than just a place where flowers grow, Happy Days Flower Farm is among the hidden gems of the Greensburg area. Located on Mt. Pleasant Road, this family-run micro farm supplies Westmoreland County and beyond with lush, farm-fresh blooms that deliver color and life straight from the fields to local florists. But the offerings don’t stop there. Happy Days also curates one-of-a-kind arrangements for personal events, brings seasonal beauty to farmers markets, and offers business subscriptions—ensuring that offices and storefronts stay bright and inviting year-round.
The journey of Happy Days Flower Farm began with a simple but profound moment for the farm’s founder, Bethany Connelly. “My middle son Maverick brought me home a zinnia seedling for Mother’s Day a few years ago,” she says. “I planted it in our garden not expecting much. It bloomed and bloomed all summer long with the most beautiful flowers. We could see it from the kitchen, and it made us all so happy to look at.” That single flower—standing tall through a challenging year for Connelly—sparked an idea that would change the family’s lives.
Having previously maintained a small vegetable garden, the family decided to broaden their floral ambitions. With an enterprising purchase of 25,000 seeds, a borrowed tiller and a vision, they transformed their backyard into a flourishing field of blooms. “From the start, we noticed the potential, not only to provide this service to the community but also the amount of connection it was creating for our family,” Connelly shares. Her children, ages 2, 6 and 9, became an integral part of the process as they played among the flowers and helped in the field, making it a true family endeavor.
However, transitioning from a hobby to a thriving business presented its challenges. Despite Connelly’s prior experience in entrepreneurship, scaling up flower production required new skills and forethought. Learning customer preferences, pricing structures and effective marketing strategies became vital to the endeavor. “I think the biggest challenge for me in this business was homing in on what we want to provide and what we don’t want to provide, so that we aren’t saying yes to absolutely everything! Every business needs boundaries to stay true to the mission.”
Through trial and triumph, Happy Days Flower Farm has grown into a beloved community staple. One of the most rewarding moments for Connelly has been simply witnessing the fruits of her family’s labor. “The flowers grew! As silly as it sounds, when you plant a seed there are just so many unknowns. It was about mid-July last summer when my husband and I were watching the kids running between the rows and our dog laying in the grass as we sat at the top of the hill in awe of what we had accomplished.”
As the farm enters its second year, the family continues to refine their offerings, incorporating new varieties like cosmos, larkspur and unique zinnias. With a keen eye on market trends and a passion for creating visually stunning arrangements, the farm is poised for continued growth. Future plans include expanding wholesale reach, adding more small events and eventually shipping flowers beyond Pennsylvania. Additionally, they are working on breeding new varieties of zinnias, with hopes of offering seeds in the coming years.
Happy Days Flower Farm is about more than just flowers. “Our mission is to spread happiness, hence the name Happy Days! We believe that every day can be a happy one with the right mindset and some fresh flowers,” says Connelly. With the family’s unwavering dedication, it’s clear that this farm will continue to blossom, bringing joy to the community one bloom at a time.
