Reassessment Town Hall meeting at Baldwin High School

Time: 7 pm Date: Wednesday - 03/28/12 Location: Baldwin High School Auditorium

Allegheny County will hold a town hall meeting to assist homeowners with the 2013 court-ordered reassessment. The town hall meeting will include a presentation that explains the reassessment process, how to file and prepare for informal reviews and formal appeals, and other options for reducing assessed values, as well as a question-and-answer period. In addition, county staff will be on hand to assist property owners with filing various forms. Legal and real estate professionals will also be present to provide free one-on-one advice and assistance. No registration is required, and the sessions are free and open to all. Property owners from any community are welcome to attend town hall meetings throughout the county.

Program Dates: Friday, March 23, 2012 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday/Sunday, March 24/25, 2012 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - w/lunch Friday, March 30, 2012 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - w/lunch Sunday, April 1 , 2012 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - w/lunch     Cost: $300.00 INCLUDES: Lifeguarding Book, Pocket Mask used for CPR and rescue breathing, Bandage Kit, 31 Hours of Instruction, Use of Red Cross Manikans, Certification cards (Lifeguarding and First-Aid certification is 3 years. CPR and AED is 2 years)

If desired, a walk-through to view the vehicle is available on Friday - March 16, 2012 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the transportation department located at 61 Macek Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 and is being coordinated by Dave Sparrow, Assistant Transportation Manager (412-885-7595).

PIAA Girls Basketball 1st Round

The Highlander Girls Basketball Team has the opportunity to host the first round of the state basketball tournament at Baldwin High School tomorrow night vs. Erie Central at 7:00pm. Tickets are on sale in the athletic office. Adults tickets $6.00 and student tickets are $3.00. All tickets will be $6.00 at the gate. It is strongly recommend that you purchase your tickets ahead of time especially if you are bringing a student to the game because they will save $3.00. Our district also gets a commission on all per-sold tickets from the PIAA. The athletic office will be open for tickets sales until 3:30 today and from 7:00am until 3:30 tomorrow.

NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS - REASSESSMENTS

Notice of your new reassessment value to be used to calculate your real estate property taxes for 2013 has been mailed to you from Allegheny County. At this time the District cannot advise you of what impact this value change will have on your 2013 taxes because the District will not announce the 2013 tax millage rate until June of 2013. The District is bound by the restrictions of Act 1 which will require the District to re-calculate millage rates to remain revenue neutral following the reassessment. We suggest you refer to the information presented on the County's website at http://www.alleghenycounty.us/courtreassess.aspx.

Upon loading the February 2012 release, Skyward Family Access and Student Access users will notice that the background color of screens has been changed to blue.


Please do not be alarmed by this change. Other than the color change, Family Access and Student Access functionality has not changed.
